Lead Instructor – Part time positions

Working with the Director, the position also contributes to the development and implementation of class curriculum and management of the classroom. This position typically oversees Junior Instructors. The Lead Instructor is generally responsible for teaching classes and class preparation.

Classes, workshops, clubs, and camps will be offered throughout Northern Saskatchewan, on various dates throughout the year. Communities include, but are not limited to: Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Wadena, Hudson Bay, Carrot River, Kinistin First Nation, YellowQuill First Nation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages the day-to-day operations of the classes. Prepares lessons, controls inventory, handles logistics while managing Assistant Instructors and students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to present oneself and one's ideas with clarity, confidence and professionalism
  • Classroom management skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving

  • Post-Secondary education is an asset. Teaching or Leadership experience is an asset.

Salary Range: $16/hour - $22/hour: Depending on qualifications and experience.

Travel: Some travel may be involved – travel expenses will be covered by Engineering For Kids of North Saskatchewan.

Working with the Director and Lead Instructors, this position assists in the classroom. Junior instructors assist students with activities and following instructions. Junior instructors provide encouragement and support to students. Junior instructors will help lead some activities.

Classes, workshops, clubs, and camps will be offered throughout Northern Saskatchewan, on various dates throughout the year. Communities include, but are not limited to: Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Wadena, Hudson Bay, Carrot River, Kinistin First Nation, Yellow Quill First Nation.

Program hours will not conflict with school hours. Programs will be offered in evenings/weekends and school holidays.

Instructors in Training – Volunteer positions

Working with the Lead and Junior Instructors, these volunteer positions assist in the classroom. Instructors in Training assist students with activities and following instructions. Instructors in Training provide encouragement and support to students. Instructors in Training have a genuine interest in science, technology, robotics and math.

Classes, workshops, clubs, and camps will be offered throughout Northern Saskatchewan, on various dates throughout the year. Communities include, but are not limited to: Melfort, Tisdale, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Wadena, Hudson Bay, Carrot River, Kinistin First Nation, Yellow Quill First Nation.

Program hours will not conflict with school hours. Programs will be offered in evenings/weekends and school holidays. Instructors in Training will have opportunity to explore our programs at advanced levels.

Volunteer Positions: Instructors in Training will have an opportunity to participate at the Masters Level, in our training and education programs. They will work along side apprentice students, assisting and encouraging as needed. Instructors in Training have participant fees & tuition waived, in exchange for their assistance in the classroom. Instructors in Training will help will program and equipment set up, as needed.

Instructors in Training will be considered for future Junior Instructor positions with Engineering for Kids.

Junior instructors provide encouragement and support to students. Junior instructors will help lead some activities and work with small groups. Junior Instructors have opportunities to advance their own skills.

Instructors in Training – Volunteer positions

Working with the Lead and Junior Instructors, these volunteer positions assist in the classroom. ITS provide encouragement and support to students. Instructors in Training have a genuine interest in science, technology, robotics and math. Our Instructors in Training are typically current high school students who seek leadership skills and advanced STEM learning opportunities.
