Playful Playground Engineers – Ages: 4-7

Congratulations! You’ve been hired as a mechanical engineer, and your first assignment is to engineer the most fun playground in your community! Playgrounds are packed full of simple machines such as levers, wheels and axles, inclined planes, and pulleys. Learn all about these simple machines that make playground swings, spring riders and see saws work, by tackling fun robotics and coding challenges using the engineering design process. We can’t wait to play!

Junior Robotics: Jungle Explorers- Ages: 4-7

Are you ready to go on an exciting jungle adventure with robots? In this program, students will tackle a variety of engineering challenges and use the robotics kit to develop innovative solutions. They will learn about jungle ecology, as well as valuable coding concepts, such as sequences, loops, conditional statements, and debugging. Students will learn how to build, code, test, and use the Engineering Design Process to improve their designs. This program is sure to be a roaring good time!

Minecraft Urban Innovations – Ages:8-12

Build your own futuristic and sustainable city using Minecraft. Apply basic civil engineering concepts to design and construct innovative roads and structures. Learn how the layout of roads, sidewalks, and bike lanes promote urban sustainability and how the United Nations is using Minecraft in the process of urban planning and design. Make your city come alive as you navigate engineering challenges, manage resources and work collaboratively with your fellow engineers.

Video Game Design: Hydrocraft Video Game

Prepare for some fast-splashing fun! Learn how to use the Engineering Design Process to bring your very own racing game, including a personal hovercraft, to life. Have fun designing, coding, testing, and refining several types of marine-based devices and vehicles to compete on a unique racetrack of your own creation!

Richmond Hill Spring Classes Ages: 4-6

Junior Robotics + Marine Engineering – Ages: 4-6

What causes something to sink or float? How can engineers help explore and protect the ocean below? These questions and more are all explored in Junior Marine. In this program, students explore the concepts of marine engineering and mechanics, harnessing the power of water and discovering designs that help us make the impossible possible. Also, by using LEGO® Robots, students learn to build and code a Floodgate for flood prevention!

Playgrounds are packed full of simple machines such as levers, wheels and axles, inclined planes and pulleys. in these lessons, students will learn about the simple machines they encounter every day at the playground while advancing their Robotics skills in building automated playgrounds. We can’t wait to play!

Jr. Robotics + Aerospace Engineering – Ages: 4-6

During Robotics classes, participants will build a Science Rover and learn to code the robot to explore other planets. Also acting as Aerospace engineers, students will be introduced to fundamental concepts of aircraft and spacecraft. Through open and focused exploration, participants will construct rockets, parachutes, and more.

Mission to Mars Robotics + Coding – Ages: 7-12

Mission Mars program is designed to introduce students to the world of not only building, but also programming basic robots. Throughout this course the students will explore different ways in which a robot could be utilized to explore a distant planet. This program includes Hands on Robotics & Mechanical Engineering.

Tower Defence Video game: Monkey vs. Balloons

Monkeys love popping balloons. In Electronic Game Design: Monkey vs. Balloons, we will create our own version of a tower defense game that will let those monkeys throw darts and bananas at balloons as much as they want. We will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard to outline the rules of play and characters for our game. Then, we will bring our storyboard to life with programming. As the end of the class, everyone takes home a working Windows-compatible game.

Coding & Programming: Ninja Attack Video Game – Ages: 4-7

In Coding Game Design: Ninja Attack!, we will create our own version of a Platform game set in a dojo that we will defend from a ninja attack! We will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard to outline the rules of play and characters for our game. Then, we will use software to bring our storyboard to life with programming. At the end of the class, everyone takes home a working Windows compatible video game.
