Engineering For Kids of Winnipeg

We’re excited to announce three summer camp locations this year, with fun new engineering challenges plus special activities thanks to our host locations!

North Kildonan United Church

174 Pentland Street, Winnipeg

We are excited to be partnering with North Kildonan United Church to offer a camp with plenty of time inside working on engineering projects and related arts and crafts, and plenty of time outside using NKUC’s beautiful green space with games, sports, water toys, bouncers, and more!
$300 | 5 days (8:30am-4:30pm) – $240 for 4 day week

July 8-12: Engineering 101

Intro to Engineering for ages 4-7 and 8-11. The perfect camp for budding engineers who haven’t quite picked their specialty yet! Each day will explore multiple disciplines through guided design and building of civil, mechanical, electrical, aerospace, chemical, environmental, or computer engineering projects, with the opportunity to test and improve designs. There’s sure to be something for everyone!

July 15-19: Playful Playgrounds

The engineering of simple machines for ages 4-7. Playgrounds are packed full of simple machines such as levers, wheels and axles, inclined planes, and pulleys. Campers will learn about the simple machines they encounter every day at the playground, while advancing their literacy skills through a variety of read alouds.

July 15-19: Amazing Race

The engineering of travel for ages 8-11. Over five days, teams will have to work together to see who is able to travel the farthest around the world. This trek around the world will require campers to travel by land, sea, air, and even space!

July 22-26: Once Upon A Time

The engineering of stories for ages 4-7. Campers will explore a few fairy tales and engage in activities to investigate solutions for each story’s obstacles using skills from several different areas of engineering.

July 22-26: RoboGames

Coding and Robots for ages 8-11. Welcome to the RoboGames Carnival, a place where robots can have fun, compete, and go on exciting adventures. In this camp, students will build their own robot using the LEGO® Spike Prime robotics kit. They will learn the basics of block coding and learn to program touch sensors, color sensors, and distance sensors. Finally, they will use the EFK Engineering Design Process to complete exciting, carnival-themed challenges and competitions. Campers will also learn to design their own apps using introductory JavaScript as time allows.

July 29-August 2: World Games

The engineering of sports for ages 4-7 and 8-11. Campers of this week will compete for the gold as they take on exciting engineering challenges related to the greatest athletic competitions. Campers will explore a wide variety of science and engineering concepts related to various athletic events while applying EFK’s Engineering Design Process. Get ready to step up to the podium as we declare victory in inspiring the next generation of engineers!

August 6-9: World Games

The engineering of sports for ages 4-7 and 8-11. Campers of this week will compete for the gold as they take on exciting engineering challenges related to the greatest athletic competitions. Campers will explore a wide variety of science and engineering concepts related to various athletic events while applying EFK’s Engineering Design Process. Get ready to step up to the podium as we declare victory in inspiring the next generation of engineers!

August 19-23: RoboBattles

Coding and Robots for ages 8-11. It’s time for robot basic training! Battle bots need to be able to follow precise instructions. In this camp, students will build, modify, and program a robot using the LEGO® Spike Prime kit. They will learn to use motors and sensors to detect objects and assist in navigation. Then, they will use the EFK Engineering Design Process to complete a variety of basic training boot camp challenges with their battle bots. Campers will also learn to design their own apps using introductory JavaScript as time allows.

Serratus Movement Centre

1-55 Henlow Bay, Winnipeg

We are excited to be partnering with Serratus Movement Centre to offer half a day featuring fun STEM-based camp activities, and half a day on the parkour gym with SMC’s coaches!

All About Theatre

288 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg

We are excited to be partnering with All About Theatre, a performing arts studio in the exchange district, to offer a camp with plenty of time working on engineering projects, plus related arts and crafts and an active game time in the large studio. (Yes, parking during the week can be difficult – there is a drop off loop in front of the building!)

August 6-9: Engineering 101 – $240

August 26-30: Making a Splash – $350

Science meets theatre for ages 6-11. This unique camp experience combines environmental engineering and performance arts with real-world implications: campers will engage in environmental engineering themed challenges focused on water and ocean conservation. They will also learn dance, acting, and music skills using water-themed pieces, and combine everything into a final presentation for families on the last day! This camp is for engineers aged 6-11, with activities that can be scaled in difficulty to suit student interest.
