Camps at Engineering For Kids of Regina

The Fun, Educational Camp Your Child Is Bound to Enjoy!

At Engineering For Kids, our camps are carefully structured to provide your child with the enrichment he or she needs to grow and thrive. Our camps run in the spring, winter, and summer for your convenience. Our programs come in many varieties to accommodate your schedule, such as half-day camps, full-day camps, and holiday break camps. We also host camps on scheduled days off for reasons such as professional work days, teacher conference days, etc.

Just a few of these beneficial opportunities include:
  • Teamwork: Most of our camps schedule fun and engaging teamwork activities that teach children the value of investing in others.
  • Resilience and motivation: Our challenging programs help to teach kids how to keep trying. This also helps them feel accomplished when they succeed, which develops their will to learn.
  • Decision-making: Our uniquely structured activities help children establish and build upon great decision-making skills, which can help build confidence.

In addition, the wide range of activities and classes that we offer encourage children to try new things, which is a beneficial skill that can be applied in several instances throughout adulthood.

Attention all builders!

Does your child like to build, make and design? Our Junior Makers, Robotics & City Developers camp is a perfect fit! Your child will have a chance to explore Makey Makey kits, Scratch programming, Lego Wedo robotics, hands-on building materials & more!

In this camp, students explore civil, mechanical, hardware and robotics engineering. They will explore the engineering behind objects that they see every day: buildings, game controllers, even cranes. From building skyscrapers and bridges, to building and programming your own robots, instruments and games, this is a one of a kind camp that your child will not forget! No job is too tough for an Engineering for Kids engineer!

Dates: July 16-20 (9:00 am-4:00 pm)

Location: Class Act Studio (2250 Albert Street)

Ultimate Game Design Platform Games & Coding Games in Scratch (Ages 7-12)

undefined

Does your child like to play, invent and design video games? Our Ultimate Game Design week is the perfect fit! Students will create their own version of a platform game (think Super Mario) using Clickteam Fusion. Your child will be introduced to the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard to outline the rules of play and characters for our game. It can be any theme at all!

For the second phase of our camp, students will switch to coding in Scratch. Programming and coding are becoming necessary skills for various fields of engineering. Scratch is the computer programming language that makes it easy and fun to create interactive stories, games and animations. No previous programming knowledge needed!

At the end of the week, everyone will have access to their working Windows-compatible games!

Dates: July 16-20 OR July 30-August 3 (9:00 am-4:00 pm)

Location: Class Act Studio (2250 Albert Street)

Junior Space Pioneers, Robotics & Out of this World Fun! (Ages 4-7)

Embark on a fun journey to space with Engineering for Kids this summer! Our youngest engineers will be introduced to Scratch, a visual programming language. Send an astronaut to the moon and defend your moon base from space rocks. Learn how to use Scratch to create and program sprites, backdrops and basic scripts. Create a new program each day, and leave with evidence of your wild space adventure!

We’re not done yet! Our engineers will build their own robots using LEGO WeDo bricks and will learn how to program using laptop computers. Our “Out of this World” fun also includesAerospace Engineering, introducing fundamental concepts of aircraft and spacecraft design. Through open and focused exploration, students explore and construct airplanes, rockets, helicopters, and more. What’s not to love about this camp?! It’s out of this world!

Dates: July 23-27 OR August 13-17 (9:00 a-4:00 pm)

Location: Class Act Studio (2250 Albert Street)

EV3 Robo Battles, 3-D Creations & Minecraft Medieval Mania (Ages 7-12)

undefined

Here ye! Here ye! His Royal Highness King Kelvin bids you join him on a quest to eternal glory! Unite together as a noble house and compete against others to build a kingdom worthy of greatness.

Explore LEGO EV3 Mindstorms to create, program, and control robots designed to perform challenges such as the SumoBots Challenge, Jousting Challenge, and the Catapult Challenge. Use LEGO bricks and laptop computers to learn principles of robotics, computer programming, and teamwork.

Next, explore MinecraftEdu, an expansive game that lets players design and create unique worlds with amazing structures. One of the more complicated aspects of MinecraftEdu is Redstone, which is MinecraftEdu’s version of electrical circuitry. This program will introduce students to the many uses of Redstone through a Medieval themed adventure of creation, exploration, and castle besieging.

We’re not done yet! Try your hand at using our 3Doodler pens! In 3-D Printing, students will take their Medieval & Minecraft designs and learn how to extrude them into a 3-D model using a 3Doodler hand-held pen! 3-D printing, Minecraft and Robotics all represent boundless opportunity for creating even our wildest of ideas!

Dates: July 23-27 (9:00 am-4:00 pm)

Location: Class Act Studio (2250 Albert Street)

Out of this World Fun, EV3 Mission to Mars & 3-D Creations (Ages 7-12)

With a little help from Engineering for Kids students, humans will be prepared to take up residence by the end of the week! Students will collaborate with their Space teams to create the safest and most effective community on the moon. Build a straw rocket, a lunar lander, and blast off with bottle rockets!

Next, students will design and program LEGO EV3 Robots to explore Mars. Students will explore different ways in which a robot could be utilized to explore a distant planet. Design a Mars rover, find water and shelter, and launch into space!

We’re not done yet! Try your hand at using our 3Doodler pens! In 3-D Printing, students will take their space designs and learn how to extrude them into a 3-D model using a 3Doodler hand-held pen! What’s not to love about this camp?! It’s out of this world!
