Two focused children carefully assemble parts of a robot, using tools and materials to bring their creation to life. This hands-on activity sparks creativity and introduces the basics of robotics engineering.

Our friends at Fox 10 Phoenix recently put Engineering For Kids in the news, stopping by to see what makes our program so special. The story captured our young inventors in action – from preschoolers creating their own slime and bubble solutions to older kids diving into robotics projects.

“The excitement in the room is contagious,” says owner Lan Hoagland. “Our littlest engineers, some as young as 4, are natural scientists. They’re curious about everything and love getting their hands dirty while learning how things work.”

While the younger group explored basic chemical engineering through fun hands-on projects, the 8-14 year olds next door were busy building and programming robotic arms. The program covers everything from aerospace and mechanical engineering to civil, electrical, and solar projects.

Hands-On Learning for Every Age Group

What makes these camps truly unique is our approach to learning through play. Kids actively engage with scientific concepts, experiencing them firsthand. When a child creates their own bubble solution, they’re learning about surface tension and chemical reactions. While building a robot arm, they’re discovering principles of mechanical engineering and basic programming. These hands-on experiences spark curiosity and create lasting memories that can inspire a lifelong interest in science and technology.

The Impact of Engineering for Kids on Young Learners

“We’ve seen incredible growth in our students,” Hoagland notes. “Parents often tell us their children come home buzzing with excitement, eager to share what they’ve learned and ready to tackle new challenges. That’s exactly what we aim for – nurturing that natural curiosity and showing kids that engineering can be fun and accessible.”

Want to spark your child’s interest in STEM? Engineering for Kids runs camps all summer long! Whether your child dreams of building robots, designing bridges, or creating their own experiments, we have a program that will capture their imagination and fuel their passion for learning. Come see what the buzz is about!
