Inspirational Women for International Women's Day

In 1909, the first “Women’s Day” was celebrated in the United States to honor the 15,000 women who marched the year before through New York City to demand better pay and equal voting rights. A year later in 1910, Clara Zetkin proposed the idea that “every year in every country there should be a celebration on the same day” and by the next year, they did just that. On March 15th 1911, the first “International Women’s Day” was celebrated. The date was changed to March 8th in 1913 and has been celebrated on this day ever since.
