Virtual / Live Toy Making: Ages 4 - 7

3D Design Level 1

Engineering For Kids is bringing the amazing hands-on STEM CLASSES right to your living room!

  • Sundays April 18 - May 23 (6 sessions)
  • 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Class requirements:

  • Families require to collect the class supply box from one of the community centres in Aurora (Details will be communicated with families).
  • Students will attend their live and interactive online classes to learn and build different fun and educational toys.

Chemical Engineering classes introduce our youngest engineers to fundamental concepts of solids, liquids, and solutions. Students investigate the properties of several crazy concoctions and make their own samples of solid, liquid matters.

Virtual 3D Design Program: Ages 8 - 12

3D Design Level 1

3D Design is one of the most widely applicable and fun inventions on the tech scene today! In the 3D design program, we will explore the basic concepts of 3D computer-aided design, or CAD, design and create our very own 3D object! Students will also learn how and why 3D printing has been evolving rapidly over the past few months in response to the needs of health communities!

Virtual Programming: App Design: Ages 8 - 12

3D Design Level 1

Students will dive deep into a coding platform and learn to code apps. This app development platform is designed specifically for children and they will learn to code their first apps.

  • Saturdays April 17 - May 22 (6 sessions)
  • 5 pm - 6 pm

Class requirements:

  • Computer / Laptop
  • A mouse (recommended but not mandatory)

Virtual Coding / Electronic Game Design Level 2: Ages 8 - 12
(Pizza Delivery Game)

3D Design Level 1

This program will have the students become software engineers to program and design their very own video game that can be played over and over! Students will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard to identify and capture the rules of play and characters for the game. Then, by using the specific software, they bring the storyboard to life with PROGRAMMING. At the end of the program, everyone takes home a working Electronic game.

Virtual Robotics & Coding Program Level 2: Ages 8 - 12

3D Design Level 1

This program empowers the students with the basics of coding and robotics in an exciting interdisciplinary STEM field. The course is powered by an Online Robotics Learning Environment which provides online simulation, a visual code editor, and live interaction with the instructor and other students. Each student will receive a username & a password to be able to use the Robotics Software and join the classroom.

Coding Game Design Beginners (Pong Under The Sea Game- Level 1): Ages 8 - 12

Coding Game Design: Ninja Attacks: Level 2! Ages 8 - 12

Junior Inventors

In the Electronic Game Design Ninja Attack, we will create our own version of a platform game set in a dojo that we will defend from a ninja attack! We will use the Engineering Design Process to create a storyboard to outline the rules of play and characters for our game.

*NEW* Minecraft Design: Medieval Machinations: Ages 8 - 12

3D Design Level 1

This program will immerse students in the expansive world of Minecraft and will challenge student’s ingenuity and problem-solving skills as they navigate through several engineering challenges. One of the more complicated aspects of Minecraft is Redstone, which is Minecraft's version of electrical circuitry. This class will introduce students to the many uses of Redstone through a Medieval themed adventure of creation, exploration, and castle besieging, with students making minecart tracks to help them gather resources, working together to build their kingdom, and designing traps to defend their castle, all with the use of Redstone.

  • Saturdays May 1 - May 29 (5 sessions)
  • 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
  • Ages: 8 - 12 (Up to 13 years old)
  • In this class we will be using Minecraft JAVA which is only compatible with PC ( Windows) & MacBook (MacOS).
  • Families need to have either of these devices available for their children. Students attending Minecraft Java classes will require having a Minecraft account for the computer.
  • Students may use their own Minecraft account for PC. If students do not have their Minecraft PC account, they can choose one of the below options:
  1. Purchase their own permanent account here.
  2. Engineering For Kids will share a temporary username & Password which can be used only during the class. This option should be communicated by email (yorkregion@engineeringforkids.com) at least 4 days before the start date.

Race to the finish and create your own 3D racing game in Microsoft’s Kodu gaming environment. From terrain design to the enemy selection, students are placed at the wheel and given full control to design their own video game while exploring the foundations of coding.
