We have been bringing a variety of instructor-led fun activities to children right to your homes. We continue to add new programs and invite you to visit us often. Our programs are now being offered year round! Join us any week!

We are offering a range of Online Engineering Classes in topics like Aerospace Engineering, 3D Printing, Electrical Engineering and more! At EFK, our STEM programs provide an experience that will challenge young minds and promote creativitiy, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

Our curriculum has been Cognia Certified AND deemed a STEM.org Accredited Educational Experience. By having both of these certifications, it proves we have carefully developed our programs and courses to give our students the full scope of their studies and the importance of careers in STEM.

Live STEM Programs

ROBO 201-Masters Virtual RoboticsVirtual Robotics at home

  • Ages: 8 - 14
  • Cost: $100 + GST

​​​​Through twice-weekly online video meetings, students will work in small groups, learning to code virtual robots. The "gamified" online robotics platform will allow students to program (code) their robot to complete challenges, some on their own time, and some during the scheduled class.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in regular tournament style challenges against peers in these virtual classes, to help them see their progress and trouble spots.

By programming robots for a purpose, participants practice problem solving and logic skills, as well as math concepts such as degrees, and basic algebra and geometry. Students will also experience the use of motors, sensors, and the way robots affect our everyday lives.


ENG 101- Juniors STEM Variety A

  • Ages: 4 - 7
  • Dates: Tuesdays
  • Time: 4 - 4:45pm
  • Cost: $100+GST

All supplies and instructional materials for the 8 week program are shipped right to you. Our instructors guide the kids real-time through the program. The eight activities are:

  1. Chemical Engineering: Bubble bliss + Wacky Wands: Students will explore properties of a liquid during this Bouncing Bubbles lesson. They will experiment concocting two different bubble solutions to determine which one produces stronger bubbles. Explore how design of the bubble wand affects the bubble size and shape.
  2. Aerospace Engineering: Parachutes: Students will have to engineer a functional parachute for a test jumper that must descend gracefully after being dropped from a tall height. After the testing phase, which is an important part of the Engineering Design Process, students will be able to improve upon their design.
  3. Electrical Engineering: Greetings: Students learn how to create a flat conductive circuit path with a LED light feature.
  4. Environmental Engineering: Sun painting: Sun printing, or cyanotype, will give students the opportunity to closely examine an object in detail, as the object being printed leaves a direct contact silhouette on the specially-formulated sun print paper.
  5. Civil Engineering: Bridges: The Note Card Bridge activity will challenge students to construct a bridge out of a normally flexible material and create a navigable span.
  6. Chemical Engineering: Slime: Students will learn about the chemical properties of slime and make their own. They will learn about conductivity and test the different polymers.
  7. Marine Engineering: Paddleboats: Students explore kinetic and potential energy and create paddleboats that can travel across a tub of water
  8. Aerospace Engineering: Helicopters: Students will construct model helicopters. They will explore how forces such as thrust and lift help helicopters maneuver.

ENG 102- Juniors STEM Variety BSTEM Projects with EFK Winnipeg

  • Time: 5:15 - 6pm

Our STEM extracurricular activities are coming to you! Kids experience our hands-on engineering program from the comfort of their home.

All supplies for the 8 week program are shipped right to you. Our instructors guide the kids real-time through the program. The eight activities are:

  1. Chemical Engineering: Sand Slime: Students will work as chemical engineers to invent their own recipe for kinetic sand and then complete a series of tests analyzing the physical properties of their new invention.
  2. Aerospace Engineering: Rocket launcher: Students engineer a functional rocket launcher! They learn how launch angles and mass affects the range of their rocket.
  3. Marine Engineering: Pontoon boats: Students learn how pontoons work to keep a boat afloat! They test the load their boats can hold with and without pontoons
  4. Electrical Engineering: LED Flashlight: Students build their own working flashlight. They learn about conducting and non conducting materials.
  5. Electrical Engineering: Magnet Skaters: Students learn how magnets work and demonstrate how the magnetic field can pass through a solid object. They build a toy for continued fun!
  6. Coding: What’s more fun than playing an interactive video game? Writing one! Video sensing allows students to design and program their own video games and then test them. In this Scratch program, students work together to create their own musical instruments while exploring coding foundations.
  7. Environmental Engineering: pH Water testing: Students learn about the science behind water pH testing through hands-on testing!
  8. Mechanical Engineering: Maze run: Students identify the characteristics of gravity and properties of acceleration through the manipulation of inclined planes in this lesson. Students design a maze that will have various inclines, testing how the degree of angle impacts their marble, and reaching the finish line in the least seconds possible.

ENG 103- Juniors Engineering in StoriesStory telling with Engineering for Kids in Winnipeg

  • Ages: 4 - 7
  • Dates: Saturdays
  • Time: 10am
  • Cost: $100 + GST

Kids experience and learn the science and hidden engineering challenges within their favourite stories, including Moana, Frozen, Three Little Pigs, The Little Mermaid, Shrek and more!

Supplies for the 8 week program are shipped right to you. Our instructors guide the kids real-time through the program.

  • Moana: Students build their own sailboat and test it against a strong wind!
  • Frozen: Students grow crystals using Chemical Engineering, fit for Elsa!
  • Three little pigs: Students build and test three different houses against the Big Bad Wolf.
  • Three Billy Goats Gruff: Can students re-engineer thé bridge in this classic?
  • Rapunzel: Students devise an escape for Rapunzel, with slides and pulleys!
  • Shrek: Students make Oobleck for Shrek!
  • The Little Mermaid and Nemo: Students build a reef for their marine friends
  • Cinderella: Students build getaway cars for Cinderella

ENG 201-Masters STEM Variety AVirtual Robotics at home

  1. Aerospace Engineering: Helicopters: Students will construct model helicopters. They will explore how forces such as thrust and lift help helicopters maneuver.
  2. Electrical Engineering: Students will learn about circuits and build a light up greeting card.
  3. Mechanical Engineering: Students will build catapults and explore the mechanics of catapults in order to increase precision and accuracy.
  4. Environmental Engineering: Students will design their own water filtration system while learning about the water cycle.
  5. Mechanical Engineering: Fidget spinner: students to become familiar with Newton’s Law of Inertia. This lesson has students creating, predicting, and testing the change in motion due to adding unbalanced weights to their self-created Fidget Spinner.
  6. 3D Printing: Students will learn about computer aided design and bring their designs to life!
  7. Electromechanical Engineering: Kids learn to convert electrical energy to mechanical energy as they build their own working STEM Cooling Fans!
  8. App Development: Students learn to use simple JavaScript commands to create their own apps.

  1. Aerospace Engineering: Lunar lander: Students will learn about the importance of weight distribution in aircraft design. They will build their own custom “Lunar Lander” to protect their space cadets from being ejected from their space craft.
  2. Chemical Engineering: Lift off: The Lift Off Activity will focus on the chemical reactions that occur between two inert substances, water and calcium carbonate. Students will also design their own aerodynamic body gear for a small model rocket and test their unique chemical propellant in a multi-phase process.
  3. Electrical Engineering: LED Flashlights: Students build their own working flashlight. They learn about conducting and non conducting materials.
  4. Environmental Engineering: Recycling sorter: Students work to build a working design that will allow them to sort materials of different sizes, shapes, and weights
  5. Marine Engineering: Cartesian diver: Students will construct their own Cartesian diver in order to have a better understanding of buoyancy underwater. They will learn to equalize the buoyant force and the weight on their diver so that it is neutrally buoyant just under the surface of the water.
  6. Aerospace Engineering: Rocket launchers: Students engineer a functional rocket launcher! They learn how launch angles and mass affects the range of their rocket.
  7. Electrical Engineering: Variable resistors: Students will build a working circuit. The students will then test different pieces of lead to observe the positive and negative effects of the different lengths.
  8. Coding: Scratch video: What’s more fun than playing an interactive video game? Writing one! Video sensing allows students to design and program their own video games and then test them by interacting with the program via webcam. In this Scratch program, students work together to create their own games, art, or musical instruments while exploring coding foundations.

Our STEM extracurricular activities are coming to you! Kids experience our hands-on engineering program from the comfort of their home.

The Robotics WeDo curriculum is designed to introduce students to the concepts of robotics, automation, programming, and the Engineering Design Process. Students will walk away from this class with a basic understanding of how robots are designed and programmed.

The kids will need to use the LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 Core Set. The kit is yours to continue using even after our program for endless LEGO Robotics fun.

The LEGO WeDo 2.0 Core Set may be purchased new from Amazon, LEGO or other stores. We have a limited number of kits available for purchase from us as well. These are opened, sanitized and available for pickup or free local delivery. Please contact us for availability and details.


ROBO 301- Robotics LEGO EV3 private lessonsVirtual Robotics at home

This Robotics: Robot Surgeons curriculum is designed to introduce students to the world of not only building, but also programming robots. Throughout this course the students will explore different ways in which a robot could be utilized in the medical field. In this unit, students will experience both the designing and programming roles of being a robotics engineer.

The kit will be yours to use during the Summer and beyond. Siblings may share a kit and class registration!

The kids will need to use the LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 Core Set. Please contact us for availability and details.

Flex Programs

Each session consists of four pre-recorded lessons/videos. We will email you the link to the four videos (one video per lesson) and the respective passwords to access them. In each video, an EFK instructor will teach and guide your child through each project. You will have access to the four videos for 1 month. Your child may back up and re-watch the videos as many times as they wish during the 1 month period. For classes that use computer software, you will receive information on how to install or create an account depending on the software. It may take up to 48 hours for you to receive an email with the video links, password and additional information. Topics include Minecraft, App Development, Scratch programming and more! Virtual Programs Information

What will my child be doing in the class?: Engineering For Kids provides hands-on lessons backed by engineering topics and we aim to provide that same experience in our Virtual Classes. We will cover the Engineering Design Process, followed by a demonstration and activity where students will get to engineer something of their own, and then time to ask questions and reflect or improve our designs!

What are your age ranges?: Our Virtual Classes are broken into two age groups, Junior: Ages 4-7 and Apprentice/Master: Ages 8-14.

How does it work?: Each week students will meet online through Zoom in real-time with an Engineering For Kids instructor. The instructor will provide a lesson in different fields each week (ie. aerospace, civil, mechanical, industrial, & more) and the students will be provided supplies for the project via Kits.

What kind of equipment do I need for the class? Students will need to be able to download the Zoom Video Platform. Most devices are compatible, more information on compatibility and to download can be found here. If you need assistance downloading the program, you can also view a range of support videos for Zoom here.

Will I need to participate as a parent?: For our younger ones, we ask that a grown-up or older sibling assist with any scissors or gluing during the activity. If your lesson might require a little extra assistance, it will be noted under the lesson description.
